Prizegiving Christmas 1878
Christmas 1878 - “The Schools broke up on Thursday 19th December, and what a very pleasant affair it was”
Many prizes were given out - one being given out by Miss Mabel Withington for: ‘the most picklesome boy in the school’
Mr E.P Thompson thought it unfair for some children not to receive anything - and presented them all with a currant bun”.

Our School Treat ...1880
'On the lovely afternoon of Thursday 19th August 1880, children of the schools, to the number of 250, marched up to Thingwall with their banners and holiday dress. They sang songs, played games and admired the fruit and flowers with Mrs Thompson.
At 4.30pm the children went to the front of the hall for an excellent tea. Games were them resumed until 7.30pm.
The day ended with a hymn and the children were presented with a jam pastry each.'
